Bare metal (kubeadm)

Guide Approach
Alma Linux Step-by-step by hand, one node at a time. Best for learning what each step does.
Ubuntu with Ansible The same steps run across all nodes with Ansible ad-hoc commands, then as a playbook.

Both guides follow the same outline:

  1. Install kubeadm, kubelet, kubectl from pkgs.k8s.io and pin the version.
  2. Disable swap, load the overlay/br_netfilter modules, set the bridge/forwarding sysctls.
  3. Install containerd with SystemdCgroup = true.
  4. kubeadm init on the control plane, then install a CNI plugin.
  5. kubeadm join the workers.

For maintenance afterward (resetting nodes, changing node IPs), see kubeadm.
