Harvester is well suited to disconnected sites because the ISO contains all images needed for install and upgrade.

    • Install from ISO with no network dependency.
    • Configure containerd-registry setting / registries.yaml mirrors for guest workloads.
    • Host VM images on an internal HTTP server.
    • For Rancher and guest clusters, use Hauler to gather images/charts:
    # hauler manifest
    apiVersion: content.hauler.cattle.io/v1
    kind: Images
    metadata:
      name: rancher-images
    spec:
      images:
        - name: rancher/rancher:v2.x.y # your target versions
        - name: rancher/rancher-agent:v2.x.y
    ---
    apiVersion: content.hauler.cattle.io/v1
    kind: Charts
    metadata:
      name: rancher-charts
    spec:
      charts:
        - name: rancher
          repoURL: https://releases.rancher.com/server-charts/stable
          version: 2.x.y

    hauler store sync -f manifest.yaml
    hauler store save -f rancher-airgap.tar.zst
    # move across the gap, then:
    hauler store load -f rancher-airgap.tar.zst
    hauler store serve registry

    • Set http-proxy if the site has a controlled egress proxy instead of a hard air gap (remember noProxy must include cluster CIDRs, node IPs, the VIP and .svc/.cluster.local).
