A factory reset erases all configuration: SIP accounts, network settings, and the admin password you set. Write down anything you want to keep first, or export the config from the web UI (Maintenance section).

A provider-supplied (locked) device may have the reset function disabled. A retail unit won't.

Method 1: Reset button

  1. Unplug the Ethernet cable from the HT812. Leave the power connected.
  2. Find the pinhole reset button on the back panel.
  3. Press and hold it with a paperclip for about 7 seconds.
  4. Release. The device reboots with factory defaults.

Method 2: Web UI

If you can still log in:

  1. Go to Maintenance → Restore Factory (the exact menu location varies by firmware).
  2. Choose the scope: - Full Reset: everything. - ISP Data Reset: network settings only. - VOIP Data Reset: SIP accounts and provisioning only.
  3. Confirm. The device reboots.

The partial resets are useful when, for example, you want to switch providers without losing your network setup.

Method 3: IVR voice menu

This needs a Touch-Tone phone. A rotary phone can't dial *.

  1. Connect the phone to Phone 1 and lift the handset.
  2. Dial *** to open the voice menu.
  3. Dial 99 and wait for the "reset" prompt.
  4. Enter the device's MAC address (printed on the label on the bottom) using this encoding: - Digits 0–9 are entered as-is. - Letters use the 2 and 3 keys repeated:

    Letter Enter
    A 22
    B 222
    C 2222
    D 33
    E 333
    F 3333
  • Example: MAC fragment 1A3C is entered as 1 22 3 2222, which is 12232222. 5. Wait about 15 seconds. The device reboots to factory defaults.

After a reset

  • Log in with admin and the default password printed on the device label (older units: admin/admin).
  • Remember that the HT812 starts in router mode: its web UI is blocked from the NET1 (WAN) side by default. See first access.
  • Continue with Base configuration.
